Hi! I’m Kennedy.
I’m a middle school teacher turned Certified Family Life Educator.
I started my career as a Family & Consumer Sciences Educator, teaching life skills to teens.
I left the classroom and founded The Family Room to provide missing services for teens & their families.
Teen Social-Emotional Coaching- our bread & butter! Individualized support to make gains in mindfulness, coping skills, and executive functioning skills.
Teen Skills Groups- interactive, approachable groups & workshops where teens leave with new skills & strategies.
Parent Education Classes- a separate service from teen coaching. Developed by Robyn Gobbel, “Raising Kids with Big, Baffling Behaviors: A Course for Parents” helps parents, caregivers, and caring adults learn to understand and respond to the most baffling behaviors. While not mandatory for parents of youth enrolled in teen coaching, it is highly encouraged. Open to all parents, not just parents of youth enrolled in coaching! Currently a Raising Kids with Big, Baffling Behaviors Course Facilitator in Training. Join our newsletter for upcoming offerings!

Connection first: Strong relationships are the foundation for growth.
Co-regulation before self-regulation: Teens develop social-emotional skills more effectively when guided by caring adults.

Frequently Asked Questions

Therapy typically involves clinical diagnoses and treatment of mental health conditions, and coaching empowers individuals with skills and psychoeducation to navigate day-to-day challenges, strengthen family dynamics, and foster positive growth. Coaching can be a powerful complement to therapy, but it does not replace it. If a need for therapy is identified, recommendations for local providers will be provided.
